How To Add Applets To the Various Panels In Ubuntu 11.10

In order to add applets to various panels in Ubuntu 11.10

1) Hold down Alt key and Right Click on the panel.

2) You should not be able to see the normal Panel menu i.e Add to panel, properties etc

You can now take things from there as you would in old versions.

Note
For normal gnome-classic (with effects) users, you actually have to hold Meta + Alt + Right Click.

For those of you who would like to use Ubuntu classic gnome desktop while on the latest versions on Ubuntu, this script may help

Go to your command line window: Ctrl ? Alt ? T

Type the command below to install Gnome Session Fallback.

sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

After installing, restart your machine and when you come back to login choose Gnome Classic Desktop as shown below.
